PWC v. 3.0

Filed under: General — Ali @ 2:07 pm

The other day, I got my hair cut AGAIN. I know- it’s a crazy addiction. I’ve gotten my hair cut at least five times this year! That’s a record! Well, after this last one, I vow not to cut my hair for another year, but that will take a lot of care on my part to make sure my hair is moisturized and etcetera. If you know me, you know I rarely 1) comb my hair, 2) moisturize, and 3) use product. Any hairstylist I go to says I should take care of my hair more, especially since I bring my hair to them all coarse and bleh. Here’s a review on the recent change.

My hair before. I had uber-long hair. I came to Orlando with medium length hair, and had let it grow out for the last four years. I really loved having long hair. I didn’t have to get a hair cut often, and I got to leave it long for the wedding. I like to think I have awesome long hair, but most of the time, it looks dry and frizzy. My fault.

My first PWC (post-wedding chop) was less than two weeks after the above picture was taken. I hated it. I got five inches taken off, but it was still long. And it was horrible.

My second haircut was in August. A LOT was cut off. It was cute most of the time, but the layers freaked me out.

My hair had grown to shoulder length since August, and I wanted to cut it shorter. My third (and technically, fourth) haircut was the other day. I went back again to get it fixed because it turned out too blunt the first time around. Here’s what the first haircut looked like. It doesn’t look bad, maybe my negative response to it was only in my head, but I thought it was too bulky at the bottom. Thick hair does not emulate the hairstyles that people with nice thin hair have too well.

I went back the next morning and had it cut some more AND thinned. I had never had my hair thinned before. The hairstylist listerally cut off 50% of my hair from the inner layers, and it was so much thinner (a good thing in my case). All in all, including the hair cut off from under my hair, about ten inches went. And this is what I look like now. You can’t really tell my hair has been thinned so much. I had to take off my glasses because the sun was messing with my $5 anti-reflection, mwahahaha. I have an extremely round head.

Welcome to Five Guys!

So, I have a deep, dark secret to share with you: I work as a cashier at a burger restaurant. Ah, but do not worry, it’s the best burger place in the world, Five Guys Burger & Fries! A Five Guys location opened up right down the street from my house in Baldwin Park, and they actually called me back to work, so I said yes. Still, I can’t be too happy about my current situation since it’s been almost a year since I’ve graduated and this is where I am. I have my ups and downs with Five Guys, an up being that I’m consistently noted for being a great employee and a down being the constant cleaning up of peanut shells. Things I’m really good at as a Five Guys employee: cleaning up the dining room tables, smiling, taking your order, getting positive remarks in secret customer reports. It’s been two months since I started working there, so come and see me smile at you while you get a deliciously fatal burger with awesome cajun fries.

Yummy fries. (And my favorite burger is grilled cheese with one patty and bacon added. Can’t have that too often.)

I look so good.

This is where I take your order!

I love petting my cat.

Just got back from visiting Pensacola for a wedding! And Dylan survived! The poor thing was so crazed with emotion last night, he started meowing the second we got out of the car, you could hear it from outside. But now he’s lying next to me, and everything’s okay. Billy and I love going back to Pensacola, but wish we could take Dylan with us.

Anyways, I am writing to report that Scott Bakula is going to be in a movie next year! If you knew me almost ten years ago, you’d know I LOVED Scott Bakula. Quantum Leap is one of my favorite shows ever, and after almost every journal entry I did in middle school, I wrote “I love Scott” or something. That’s probably just as embarassing as “loving” Leonardo DiCaprio. Billy’s been very nice in accepting my strange obsessions. The movie is called “The Informant,” and it stars Matt Damon. Sounds good!

BTW, listening to the group Bitter:Sweet. I like it, lol.

Oh, and I’ll improve, too!

The other weekend, Billy updated my WordPress, so now I can LINK and INSERT pictures/video/whatnot. That’s a good thing! The inability to do those things in the past was a leading factor in not using my personal blog in favor of the family blog. Hopefully that will change. And, it’s weird having a “family blog.” (I also have a cat blog for Dylan!)

So, in honor of the “new-ness,” I’ll have the blog design changed for the better soon, and come back with a vengeance. Tschuss!

Back from the dead.

I’ve been MIA for almost two months now. Or maybe more. Not too sure anymore. But don’t feel bad! I’ve been neglecting all of my blogging duties since September, and the guilt has been hanging above my head daily. It’s not usual of me to not check in once in a while, although the posts in the last year have been lacking. Sorry! Not that anyone really reads this, lol.

In a quick recap, I now work at Five Guys Burgers & Fries in Baldwin Park, so visit the best cashier in the world while you are there. I’m still searching for that elusive awesome job, so job, if you’re out there, seek me out as well! Our new cat Dylan is going through his teenage years, and it the best thing ever, even if he’s crazy sometimes. Our marriage has been going swell as expected. We’re going to see Brooke Waggoner tonight, and HelloGoodbye on Sunday, so we like us some concerts in Orlando. We’ve had visitors come and go, and we expect more next month. The house is fine, although much colder. Terrazo definitely works as a cold source. I have learned to love my slippers once again.

Not much has been happening, which is all right since I dislike drama. It’s all nice and comfy, and Billy and I enjoy a good scoot when it’s nice outside. I’ve started to count lawn cats in the neighborhood and am considering photographing them. Hopefully I’ll get back to blogging about my personal life soon, but you know me- I never say much.

Ciao for now!

CDs vs. iTunes/iPod

Filed under: General — Ali @ 6:13 am

Today, I am updating my iTunes because I would like to get the free TV downloads that are available for now.

I have over 100 CDs I need to put on my iTunes, but that takes too long and I am lazy. I have an iPod Nano that Billy presented to me on my birthday back in 2006, but now that I am out of school, I do not use it except on my iPod alarm clock radio. Plus, the battery is not the best. I haven’t plugged in my iPod into my new computer yet, and I haven’t even changed the songs since the last Feist CD came out (August 2007!). I use my iTunes when I’m on my computer, but I used to use Windows Media before that, and I preferred that layout for the longest time. When I’m not on my computer, I’m driving around listening to my millions of CDs in the car. I tried hooking up my iPod to the car, but every device either broke or got lost, so I gave up.

My music world is separated in two- there’s music I listen to on iTunes and music I listen to on CD. With iTunes, I can get some new music when I have the money, but when I buy a hard-copy of something, I rarely get what’s considered “new music. That’s because everything I buy comes from the thrift store. I get lots of 90s music and whatever junk is found at the Goodwill. Yesterday, I bought a MINT CONDITION Natalie Imbruglia CD. It had never been opened in it’s 11 year history. I also got the Lizzie Maguire movie soundtrack… I didn’t need that. Eh, at least it was cheap. $1.99 for a CD is not too shabby, and over half of my CDs were purchased secondhand.

CDs win forever. I hope they don’t phase them out in the near future.

You can get Ingird Michaelson’s single “Be Ok” at Amazon.com for 99 cents.

Or get it for 30 cents like I did, at Amie Street.

Score!

I went to Plato’s Closet with Desree, Austin, and Crystal while we were shopping today, and I picked up a $12 H&M dress. I call it a “babydoll pilgrim outfit.” Score! Can you imagine what that looks like? Also, at Target, I picked up a harness and leash for the kitten. I’m going to walk him one day.

My Top 25 Most Played

Filed under: General — Ali @ 10:13 am

I think the songs a person listens to the most can tell a lot about who they are. I don’t listen to my iTunes a lot, but here’s my top 25 most played list. Remember- most of these songs were “wedding songs,” so if they’re all mushy, it’s because I played my wedding playlist 24/7 (you know, to get in the mood). The number 1 song was what I walked down the aisle to, so of course I had to pretend-practice that a million times while alone in my living room. I’m not usually that mushy.
