I’m With Lucy

Opposite of what most people would or do believe, I do not watch chick flicks! I probably haven’t watched a romantic comedy in a theatre since… Alex & Emma (oh, waste, even if it did have Sophie Marceau in it). I’ve seen a lot of them in my youth, however- that’s what I get for living with my film-loving grandma! I’m more drawn to movies that end up with people dying and me crying. I cry veeeery easily in films. I’m With Lucy is one of my favorite chick flicks ever. I have no idea why- I happened to watch most of it with my friends on television one night back in high school, and it stuck with me. I bought the VHS (back when Wal-Mart still sold VHS…), and I practically have the entire score and songs in the film memorized in my strange mind. They should come out with a soundtrack on CD, I’d buy it. I love that film. Monica Potter has great luck finding guys (in movies). It’s got Henry Thomas AND John Hannah in it (which was great, because I had a strange affinity for those guys back then). I always thought I’d run away (or rollerblade away) as her character did when Barry proposed to her. (But I didn’t!) The projector film scene is still so cute to me. And there’s karaoke, really bad karaoke! And the movie turned me on to the band Bread! And the second proposal was something I’d want to do for Billy (because it’s awesome), and their wedding was simple, untraditional, and sweet. And I think the film made me want to put Billy in a suit all of the time (if only). So, umm, watch I’m With Lucy. I’d call it one of the films that have shaped my life, even if it’s not a masterpiece and is corny. It’s on Lifetime right now. Don’t tell anyone I was watching that channel.
