I don’t know much about this.

While I was on a trip with my friends to New Orleans last week, music festivals were a topic we spoke about. I think they mentioned Bonnaroo, which I think occurs sometime in the summer. No problem with that- I’ve read this year’s line up, and I’d pee in my pants (skirt) if I bumped into THE SWELL SEASON (”tanks a lot”). I didn’t say anything about the events myself. My experience and knowledge about music festivals anywhere are almost nil. I’m a watch-from-afar-in-the-comfort-of-the-VIP-section kind of person. Concerts have increasingly grown harder to bear since I am so short and *argh* people are so tall. I’ve watched taped versions on the telly, and I’ve been reading about SXSW recently non-stop. I have garnered preferences over the years about such things without even really knowing about them- for example, when put in a corner, my fallback choice is always the Austin City Limits Music festival. Ever since I started watching Austin City Limits in high school on PBS (oh yeah, public television is the best), I thought, “Man, I’m going to go there one day.” Hopefully that will happen, as part of my “music extravaganza” phase/tour I plan on doing with my children one day. We’d visit all the capitals in music on the best family vacation ever! Ok, probably not all the capitals in music, but most likely Texas and Tennessee. I do love the South. And I’d probably not bring my kids until they’re teens, either- if Billy and I can barely survive a day at Disney, I can only imagine little ones during a long, cramped, sweltering weekend. I’ve got about 26 years to prepare for this mega-trip.
I hope all of my favorite acts are still alive then. Until that glorious time, I’ll try to catch them in concert, or simply buy their album.
