T-minus: 1 week.

It’s another Monday, but this Monday is a bit different. This Monday is the start of my last week of summer. School starts on the 20th again. Have I done everything I wanted to this summer? Well, I didn’t exactly lose ten pounds, but I’ve had a good time. There was work, and school, and a bunch of trips and people. Today or tomorrow, I head off on my last trip of the summer, to Pensacola, and I hope it is a golden finale to this time.
When school starts, I’ll be extremely busy. I’ve got 18 hours of classes next semester, to ensure that I will graduate in time. Also, I’m working 21 hours each week. I’ve got Thursdays all to myself, though- yay! I expect that day to be my “spend all of my money at thrift shops” day.
Speaking of thrift shops… I scored big time at the Goodwill last night. Well, not completely. No cute suits or raincoats came home with me. Plus, it was kind of expensive- $27. However, I did get FIVE CDs, two capris, one dress thingy that I’ll use as a beach cover up, and a men’s shirt. I was especially happy to get the capris. The first one, from DKNY, was just hanging up in a dressing room I was in, and when I tried them on, they happened to fit. The second pair was found in the skirt aisle, and it was a brand new pair of brand name (I forgot the maker) tweed-ish capris! I was so excited and happy that they fit. Score!
Also, the Goodwill and other places are great for finding CDs. I buy most of my music there, including vinyl. In Pensacola, I once got Ben Folds and Beck, which was pretty nifty for me. Last night, I got the soundtracks to Rushmore, Selena, and A Mighty Wind, a compilation called “Over the Edge,” and the first Vanessa Carlton CD. The most important thing about buying CDs secondhand in shops like the Goodwill is to make sure the CD is actually in the case. Also, check the back of the CDs before you buy them- you don’t want to feel bad over buying something that was scratched up when you put it in the CD player. I swear, half of my music comes from thrift shops and Henry’s at the T&W Flea Market (he’s got a great organized collection, all for $5 each).
While I’m in Pensacola, I’m going through all the thrift shops, duh. Too bad a lot of them have closed down recently. And prices are not what they used to be. I remember when I first moved there, and a skirt was only $1.49. It’s definitely different now. I’m so cheap. I’m on the look out for a Dr. Who suit for Billy’s Halloween costume! (OoOOoOOoo, Tenth Dr. Who is so cute!) (So’s Billy!)
