This is a very good time for the film soundtrack.

Anyone who knows me a bit well will know that I am a collector of film soundtracks. The last few I bought in the last two months were from The Last Kiss, Little Miss Sunshine, and Cars. Believe me, those are strange choices, but then again, I do own the sountracks to such wonders as Somewhere in Time, Return to Me, and the second Titanic album. (I could do a whole lot worse.)
Anyways, I love buying soundtracks because I learned from a very early age that they are the best ways to compile some of the best music out there. You have experienced this yourself, and it is sad if Garden State was the start of it. No, go earlier, and get… I don’t know, Emprire Records. (Or any from a John Cusack movie. Never go wrong there.) This season, I am expecting to lay down a lot of money on my little collection, and my biggest fear is turning to digital copies instead of hard copies. I do love CDs and material waste such as that. I need to break the cd case while trying to open it myself. iTunes- you are the devil due to your easiness and general affordability. I… can’t help myself sometimes. And this is why my bank account is down to $15.
Hot Buys? I’m looking forward to Marie Antoinette, Stranger than Fiction (OMG, YES!… and an “omg, yes!” to anything with Emma Thompson in it.), and I still desperately want A Prairie Home Companion.
Now back to homework and the realization that blogging never did get me anywhere.
(On a random note, I have to admit, and I’m late on the bandwagon, but: I do enjoy The Decemberists. Reminds me of Billy if he were a drunk parrot spinning old wives tales.)
