ali is not a fashion whore.

so, i have a new sewing machine, and i sew a lot. just today, i bought an oversized sweater to make the sleeves shorter, so it will look like it came from urban outfitters (because it is that easy, folks). and that’s where this fine line appears with me and clothing: i will wear whatever the hell i feel like it (ok, come on, you’ve seen the weird dresses in public), but i’ll also copy what’s popular. i am such a stickler for copying, and so is everyone else, just read craftster or the like. this is especially true when you want something for a very cheap price.
i went into gap the other day. i really like their long tanks that are supposed to be tops over jeans. i’m a very big tunic person- it hides me in cloth, so it’s my friend. and so easy to make.
anyways, i was looking at delias.com (why? i’ve been researching what’s going to be in for the fall… looks kind of basic, like we’ve been down this road before), and i saw some cute dresses… including one that matched this horrible brown one i bought for 25 cents… i thought retro style was over! i go to websites all of the time to figure out their cute things, and after a while, it all looks the same. big thing for fall will apparently be long, oversized sweaters… like those weird things we used to wear in high school… but with no ties in the front. odd.
ok, nm, i’m not making sense, i should sew now. bai.
top places for inspiration: bluefly, craftster, urban outfitters, ebay, old pictures, and dress a day.
i want to make a jumper next (i knew those ugly things would make a comeback!) and a duro dress (very pretty… just need the right materials).
