I just caught wind that Jewel will have a new cd out in May, I think, and it’s called “Goodbye Alice in Wonderland.” I’m a huge fan of Jewel, I’ve at one time or another owned all of her cds (I’ve pretty much lost all of them), and the first three cds were bearable, and the only way the last one was is the sappy element that came with it.
I went to her website and watched the new video for the first single off this new album. First impressions: Jewel spent too much time with her rodeo boyfriend (are they still dating?). The video looks like Leanne Rhymes (sp?) stuff, although that’s not bad, but ever see “You Were Meant for Me” or “Who Will Save Your Soul?” That kind of honest and gritty material made her a household name. I want her to become a hippy type again, coffeehouse Jewel like in the 90s. I want to hear yodeling.
Yodeling rocks. She’s a great songwriter, and I’d hate to see any of her work backfire. Can’t wait to get my hands on the new cd, though… even if it looks country, I like country (and her cd This Way kind of worked with that vibe).
