DEATH CAB SOLD OUT! (POSERS!)
Apr 21st, 2005 by Ali
yes, i love the o.c. but did they have to push death cab for cutie to sell out? for years, those guys have been a sort of underground anti-hero, with the kind of fame that is brought on by word of mouth, and it’s a bit too weird to be giving them airtime after all this freakin’ time. but don’t get me wrong. i love seeing them getting publicity whenever they can. i love their music, even though billy doesn’t… which doesn’t really make sense since the lead singer is that of postal service, and we love postal service… maybe i’m just going off in a jeaous tangent. in eleventh grade, i loved knowing groups like death cab for cutie, because no one else knew them. now they’ve sold out, now they are mainstream. i shake my head in saddness. even billy knew that ryan, marissa, and summer would never see death cab. but seth would. and so would i.
speaking of killer music, everyone must remember that tomorrow is the free concert at the ucf arena featuring one of my all time favorite bands (but not beating out jimmy eat world): SOMETHING CORPORATE! yes, it has been two years since i have found their music, and i have not looked back. i love music, i love guys. put music and guys together, and i’m a sucker. (p.s. billy’s a drummer. that makes him extra-super-cute. i bet your boyfriend’s not a drummer!) so, tomorrow, i will be out there as soon as possible… lovin’ on the SOMETHING CORPORATE! (and i get to sit with FRIENDS!… yes, sometimes, i have friends… but i only have, like, 5.)
you know you go to olive garden way too much when the hostess askes you and your boyfriend what your names are because she sees you constantly. my stupid response to her made me seem really dumb, and billy had a good laugh over that. i think we should find a new restuarant. for some reason, billy and i go out and eat once or twice a week, which is a lot, but we only go to the same TWO places: olive garden and smokey bones. i love the food… but are we that memorable to the staff? (yes, it is hard to forget a guy who glows like white dayglo and the cute filipina next to him, lol. ok, nm, he’s not always that white…)
anyways, today was all right. i didn’t get out of bed until almost noon, and when i did, amanda and i found out that we were wearing similar t-shirts. she was wearing an “i <3 ny” shirt and i was wearing my new “i <3 south asia” shirt. kewl. i lazed about mostly, looking through clothing and etc, choosing which ones to give away to charity. so far, i have a bag of a lot of shoes to give away, and two big bags of clothing. it makes me feel sick to know i’ve wasted money on all of it… a lesson for the future, i’m sure. i had a good hair day, and i finally found the tweezer so i could tweeze my eyebrows. they were annoying me. i watched way too much of the style network today… and i loved it. (craft corner deathmatch!)
my date with billy was great, and that was super-nice. we go on dates every week, and they may be easy to do, but we like sitting down and talking about stuff. we walked through toys-r-us. he was fixated by kites and planes and scooters. i just wanted to know which naploean dynamite poster i should buy in the future. billy and i are good together, and i shouldn’t forget that. no matter what junk happens, we are really just, at heart, amazingly dorkily cute. and we like kisses. a lot. well, at least i do. i like to ask for a lot of them. if i could, that is what i would want for each birthday and holiday. i love him. (plus, he paid for dinner… whoa.)
well, i am going to go get some beauty sleep now. or atleast start knitting something. i love knitting… great conversation piece. SOMETHING CORPORATE TOMORROW! i’m going to be HAWT!
